Benefits of having the new flow:

• We can have a different count of volunteers for different shifts. 
• Previously, if a volunteer signed up for a morning shift later he cannot go back to the calendar to sign up for the other shift. Whereas in the new flow, a volunteer can sign up for a certain shift now and come back later to sign up for other shifts.
• Administrators in the process of shift approval can uncheck the shifts they do not want to approve.
